How long have you been studying/working on insect cold hardiness?

I have been investigating the cold hardiness of brown marmorated stink bug for a few years now.

What insect(s) do you study?

Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) or, more commonly, known as brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB).

What is your main research?

I study the biology and management of BMSB in Minnesota. This exotic invasive is spreading across the United States and Canada where it can cause economic damage to dozens of crops and become a nuisance pest in homes and businesses. By studying the effects of cold temperatures on this species we are gaining insight into potential weaknesses to environmental stress which could be harnessed for management purposes.
